October Trip Report

Trip Report Archive: February 2008August 2008

September brought a lot of fun to the Travel Quest office!  Our Marketing Director, Stephanie Lee, was awarded ASTA’s Young Professional of the Year award so four members of our team headed down to Disney World for the event.

Disney encompasses over 47 square miles of land and has the 17th largest transportation system in the country.  That being said, we only saw a small portion of the parks but what we did see, we absolutely loved!  Rated extremely high on our list- especially in the dog days of summer- was Disney’s waterpark Typhoon Lagoon.  It’s a great getaway for families looking for a little rest from exploring the main parks.  There was no shortage of smiles on children and adults alike as they rode the wave pool, relaxed on the lazy river, or tubed down the slides!  The waterpark isn’t included in the park hopper passes but without a doubt, it is worth purchasing a pass for some refreshing play time!

During the day we viewed the four different categories of Disney Resorts.  Pop Century (value category) was a bustling, large- and we mean large- resort full of families and bright colors.  Since the property is so big, we highly suggest that clients upgrade to the premium location rooms because the walk to the buses and or pool can be extremely long, especially for the kids.

Next stop was the Port Orleans French Quarter (moderate category).  This property is the smallest of the moderate resorts and we really loved it.  It’s much quieter and a nice alcove from the bustle of Disney.  The grounds are immaculate and the kids will love the giant waterslide!  Important to note that all moderate category and above properties have waterslides.

Last property was the Boardwalk Inn which has the top two room categories- Deluxe and Villas.  The location of the Boardwalk Inn can’t be beat!  It is a quick walk or ferry ride down the boardwalk to Epcot’s World Showcase.  The Boardwalk Inn is definitely a step up from the moderate categories and the villas are a great place for larger families or multi-generational vacations.

After the Boardwalk Inn we strolled over to the World Showcase and found ourselves walking through different cultures and sampling their cuisine.  As we walked through Morocco, Aladdin and Jasmine came through a door and the little girl’s eyes couldn’t get any wider as she stopped dead in her tracks and whispered in awe to her mom “Jasmine….”  Seeing the sparkle and amazement in the kids’ eyes was better than anything else at Disney.  We finished off the evening by watching the spectacular fireworks display over the lake in Epcot.

There’s plenty more to tell and our agents would love to talk with you more about it!  Please feel free to give us a call at 763 497 0312!
